About Chef Luxolo.
A Chef, a Storyteller, a Connector.
Chef Luxolo Tabata’s love for food began in his grandmother’s kitchen in Worcester, South Africa. He grew up watching her cook with patience and joy, preparing meals that brought family together. The laughter, the aromas, and the sense of belonging that filled her home taught him that food is a story, one that connects people across generations and cultures.

His journey into professional cooking began with curiosity and a deep respect for tradition. That path led him to MasterChef South Africa, where his creativity, humility, and storytelling through food captured hearts across the country. The experience gave him a wider platform and the confidence to pursue his dream of refining his craft on an international stage.
After MasterChef, Chef Luxolo represented South Africa at the World Congress of Chefs in Norway, where he shared his perspective on food as a bridge between cultures and communities. His time there deepened his appreciation for the global culinary world and inspired him to continue learning. He later trained in classical French cuisine, working in kitchens across France, where he mastered the art of precision, balance, and flavor.
These experiences shaped his understanding of how food can express both culture and emotion, bridging the technical and the heartfelt. Today, Chef Luxolo blends the elegance of French technique with the warmth and generosity of South African hospitality. His cooking is guided by the spirit of Ubuntu, the belief that “I am because we are.”
Through private dinners, pop-up events, and his signature Ubuntu Food and Wine Pairing experiences, he invites people to share moments that celebrate connection, culture, and community.
